About Me

I am a 2011 graduate of the University of Northern Iowa and continue to bleed purple and gold even though my new school colors - red and black - are also sneaking into my wardrobe a bit more!  This is my second year teaching 4th grade and I'm loving it.  I feel like I am learning just as much as my students!  I'm blessed to work close to family and friends in a great district with an exceptionally supportive staff - they're so fun to work with!

My teaching license is for K-6 Elementary Education but I also have a K-8 Social Studies endorsement.  One of my passion areas is service-learning and I feel fortunate to currently be a part of the Iowa Coalition for the Integration of Service-Learning, particularly as I work to connect service into my curriculum and offer my students truly meaningful learning experiences.  This has also lead to some wonderful conference presentations and coming soon, an article published in Social Studies and the Young Learner!

Despite this only being my second year, I recently started a master's program through the University of Wisconsin - Stout.  It is a wonderful, challenging addition to my schedule!

This blog is a place for me to share the stories of my classroom, the lessons I'm learning, and the tools I'm using to help it all come together.  Thanks for stopping by!
